Social Responsibility
Environmental, Social and Economic Sustainability
talentshift hr is committed to ensuring our business operates in a way that supports positive environmental and economic outcomes. We want to interact with our planet responsibly to avoid depleting natural resources, and compromising the future generation’s ability to meet their daily needs.
We take practical steps, where possible, to contribute to sustainability goals which includes the following actions:
Environmental Sustainability Actions
Minimise the use of paper by providing courses notes in PDF / electronic format;
Using email rather than posting letters;
Double side printing documents we have to print off;
Avoid the use of one-use plastics in the design of any exercises we use on programmes;
Use virtual meeting technology to reduce the miles we travel to undertake meetings with clients;
Produce exercise materials that can be re-used on future programmes or easily recycled.
Economic Sustainability Actions
Make energy efficient decisions regarding equipment we buy for our business
Purchase resources with high durability rates and avoid single use / poor quality items, to enable re-usage
Make long term economic decisions to avoid wasted resources
Social Sustainability Actions
Where possible, use suppliers who are socially responsible and are committed to sustainability goals and outcomes;
Educate people we interact with on sustainability issues;
Support initiatives that contribute to reducing hunger, poverty, and pollution, allowing communities to be more self sustaining and less wasteful.
We continuously review how we operate in these 3 areas, and welcome feedback and ideas on how we can improve our business operations in this area.
Charitable Work and Donations
talentshift hr is part of a broader community of organisations that support people at home and in their work. We feel it is right to support charities where we can. We reference several key UK charities in some of our programmes, such as MIND when talking about mental health issues, or the Samaritans when talking about who to talk to in a crisis, or who to contact when people need urgent help that is not provided by the Police, Ambulance or Fire Services.
Paul Hockey is a Trustee of Suffolk Accident Rescue Service and donates 1 day a month of his time, free of charge, to support the HR needs of this organisation (4 employees, 30 volunteer medical responders, and 20 volunteers). Paul Hockey also makes no secret of his support for charities that support UK armed forces personnel - Help for Heroes, Royal British Legion and SSAFA.
talentshift hr does not make donations to any political party.
Use of Local Suppliers
talentshift hr tries to use local suppliers when designing and delivering our programmes. Many members of our network of HR service providers and associates are based in the East of England, and where possible, we will always try and use these local providers. We believe strongly in supporting our local economy and will do our bit to support other local businesses where we can.
Use of Technology
talentshift hr uses technology to reduce our carbon footprint, energy consumption, and waste. We believe solving many of the challenges the world faces will involve advances in technology and science, and the wide adoption of these solutions. We ill always try to be early adopters and advocates for technology that contributes positively to improving society and our environment.
